Top 5 Crap Variations

Craps has always been one of the most popular and exciting games played in land-based as well as internet casinos. It’s an age-old game which dates back to the Roman Empire and Crusades, but with the help of technology, it’s now being played by millions of people worldwide.

The traditional version of craps can be played at almost any online casino, but what makes it more exciting is that players are also able to play many different variations of this well-respected game.

In the past, different variations were played in different regions, but online casinos have made it possible for any player to play any version, anywhere. Here are some of the most popular craps variations.

Crapless Craps

This variation is also known as ‘Never Ever Craps’ and was mostly played in Mississippi. The aim was to invent a game of craps where players could never lose a Pass Line Bet by landing the craps numbers 2, 3 and 12.

The great thing about this variation is that the house edge is reduced, especially for the come-out-rolls, which in turn give the player a solid advantage. Because of the low house edge, Crapless Craps could hardly be played in land-based casinos but (as always) online casinos offer this fantastic variation.

High Point Craps

One of the most simplest craps variation on online casinos, because the craps numbers 2 and 3 are ignored when they appear on the come-out-roll, this game can be very favorable for the player. When this occurs, the dice are returned and are thrown again.

If the player throws an 11 or 12, they win. Other totals are established by the point number and if the player rolls a total that’s larger than the point number the player wins the roll. The house edge of High Point Craps is 2.35%

Simplified Craps

In Simplified Craps only one roll of dice is thrown, which makes it a very simple variation. After this single round, the result is known and the game also offers a basic betting system.

Payouts are determined by the number rolled by the player, so if a player throws a total of 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 or 12, they win. But, if they throw a 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, they lose. It’s undoubtedly one of the most popular variations played, simply because it’s easy to understand and also because of the low house edge of 2.8%.

Die Rich Craps

Known as the most exotic variation, it’s also fairly easy to understand. If the player lands a 6 on the come-out roll, s/he wins instantly. But if s/he lands on a 1, s/he loses. The numbers between 1 and 6 are called the point numbers.

Players are given three more rolls after the point-number is established, to hit the point-numbers without rolling a 1. If they can’t manage to do this, the next player will throw the die and the game starts from scratch.

New York Craps

In this variation, there are no Come and Don’t Come bets available, as well as Place and Space bets. The house edge is also slightly higher than usual and the table layout is different from other craps games.
