With just a little time and energy, it should give you a good practical based grounding in how to play this fascinating game.

Free Craps – The Basics

Craps is a game played with two dice.

This means that all possible number outcomes are between two and twelve.

Now, it should be noted here that to the untrained eye, the Craps Table itself is almost sure to appear confusing at first.

There are so many fields, boxes, and, as yet unknown terms to consider, and that’s before you even notice that both ends of the table are the same.

In a full Craps game, there would likely be many bets going on at once, the only real reason for both ends of the table to appear the same is to allow more players to play at the simultaneously on the same table.

Thankfully the Free Craps Game featured on this page only shows one half of the Craps Table and only that half is used whilst you play, making this a little less of a visual problem.

online craps table

What an online craps table looks like.

Things do become clearer when you understand that though many bets may be being played at once, only one single bet per player is being made at a time.

That one bet being played by each player is also only taking up one spot on the Craps Table at any one time too.

So, already things are starting to be narrowed down for you.

It is also worth noting that despite the fast-paced appearance of the game of Craps, it is, in fact, can potentially end up being quite a bit slower than other games.

This is simply because the dice will often have to be rolled many times before a winner can be announced.

Free Craps – Placing a Bet

In free online craps, as with any craps, when you want to place a bet, you will be putting down a bet on the number which you predict that the person who is next in line to throw the dice will need to throw. At this point, you don’t need to do anything other than place a bet and you can take it easy whilst the person rolling the dice does all the work.

A wonderful extra incentive for people who love to be part of a team is that in Craps you are never competing against the other players at your table because you are all betting on how lucky the person rolling the dice will be.

Of course, the casinos are hoping that whoever is responsible for each roll of the dice will Not Be so fortunate as to win, as if they do they help the others win too. As such, if whoever rolls the dice does well, everyone does well, and the casino loses.

Free Craps – The Pass Line and The Pass Line Bet

There is an area on the Craps Table called the “Pass Line”.

The Pass Line bet, which is the basic bet in the game of craps, is set in this ‘’Pass Line’’ area.

This kind of bet is called a ‘’Series Wager’’ because the person rolling the dice will often have to roll several times, or a ‘’Series’’ of times, before anyone on the table can win or even lose.

The first roll the person rolling the dice makes is called the ‘’Come-Out Roll’’ and is different from the other dice rolls in each series.

Free Craps – The Come-Out Roll

What is the ‘’Come-Out Roll’’?

Well basically, the first roll of the dice in a betting round is called the ‘’Come-Out roll’’.

And, if the person rolling the dice rolls a seven or an eleven on their first roll, or their ‘’Come-Out roll’’, then that roll is considered an instant Pass Line successful bet, and that individual session is then finished.

They call this a ‘’Single-Toss Series’’.

If, however, the person rolling, rolls either a two, a three, or, a twelve, which is also known as Craps, then with those numbers they are considered to have rolled an instant Pass Line losing bet and the individual session is over.Pass line

This is also known as a ‘’Single-Toss Series’’.

If any numbers other than those are thrown on the ‘Come-Out Roll’ then they are thought of as being the ‘shooter’s point’ and the series carries on.

Once the ‘shooter’ has established his or her ‘point’, the ‘series’ carries on and the said ‘shooter’ carries on rolling.

From this point on, the purpose of the game is for the person rolling or the ‘shooter’ to roll their ‘point number’ again before they roll a seven.

Nothing happens if any numbers other than the ‘point’ or a seven are rolled, and the ‘shooter’ just keeps rolling the dice.

If the shooter manages to roll their ‘point’, then the Pass Line bets all win.

If a 7 is rolled, however, then that series of rolls ends straight away, and all Pass Line bets lose.

Free Craps – Laying Odds

After the ‘point’ has been established, whether it’s yours or someone else’s, you can then place further chips on the table to go behind your Pass Line bet.

This phenomenon serves to increase your bet, and by so doing has the potential to increase your payout if you win.

They call this laying ‘Odds’.

How does laying odds benefit you?

Well, in essence, you’ll have the chance to win more by laying odds.

Much like in the case of a ‘Pass Line bet’, if a 7 gets rolled before someone rolls the ‘point’ then you lose the bet, but because of the increased payouts on the Odds bet, the house is given no advantage.

What does that mean?

Well, it means that the ‘Pass Line’ portion of your bet will not be included in what you lose.

Note here though, that you can in fact only lay Odds if you have made a Pass Line bet.

Free Craps – Place Bets

Another really popular kind of bet to make in craps is the ‘Place Bet’.

This can take place once the shooter, whoever that is, establishes what the ‘point’ is.Keyboard dice

Then you can ‘Place Bet’ on a different number, in the hope that the shooter will roll your chosen number before they roll a 7.

To make your ‘place Bet’, you simply need to wait until after the shooter establishes the ‘point’ and then put chips on the number of your choice.

What then happens is that if the shooter rolls the number which you have chosen to put your ‘Place Bet’ on, then you win!

What’s also quite cool is that if you do win your ‘Place Bet’ then, if you so choose, you can keep your bet on that number and it will stay there until you ask the dealer to “take it down”.

Something important to note when making ‘Place Bets’, particularly once you start playing with real money is that the numbers pay off at different rates.

The numbers 6 and 8 will pay off at 7:6, whilst the numbers 5 and 9 pay off at 7:5, and the numbers 4 and 10 will pay off at 9:5.

This basically means that once you start playing for real money, if you’re playing on a $5 dollar table, then a 6 and 8 will pay off at $6 dollars, whilst the 4, 5, 9 and 10 will pay off at $5.

They do this as otherwise, the dealers would have to make a change, which is something most dealers will not do.

You can, of course, also remove your ‘Place Bet’ at any time.

One of the hardest things to remember for craps players, especially when they are just starting out, is that once the ‘point’ has been established on the ‘come-out roll’, then rolling a 7 becomes an automatic loser.

This again is another advantage you are given when you play craps for free, as you get to learn whilst you play, without having to incur any real loses along the way.

When considering the above point, the opposite is true in the case of the shooter rolling a 7 on the come-out role, because this is in fact an automatic winner!

Of course, the rule still applies and once the shooter has established the ‘point’, then they roll, and keep rolling the dice until they roll either the ‘point’ or a seven which knocks them out.

Indeed, if any number other than 7 or the ‘point’ is rolled, then nothing much really happens, and the shooter just keeps rolling until they do roll one of those.
